Being a part of the Department of Toxicology, Dermato-cosmetology and Pharmacognosy, at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, the IVTD group contributes on a daily basis to the educational mission of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The vast majority of lectures and laboratory practice given by IVTD members is situated in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and is embedded in several bachelor- and master-level programs.

Each academic year, the department offers Pharmaceutical as well as (Bio)Medical Sciences students the opportunity of practical training in the framework of their master thesis-related research. International student mobility programs are embraced by welcoming Erasmus exchange students for research stays of 3 - 6 months.

Given the diversity of the research themes present in the IVTD group, the department is also a fertile soil for doctoral and postdoctoral research. Indeed, over the last decade, a high number of doctoral theses have been successfully defended.

Moreover, twice a year, the department organizes two postgraduate one-week courses dealing with the efficacy and safety of dermato-cosmetic products. For more than 20 years, both stand for quality and professional knowledge, attracting participants from all over the world. Besides European countries, participants coming from US, Brazil, China, Australia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and many other countries, are represented.
